Can a woman be 8-12 weeks pregnant and a home pregnancy test still be negative? ?
How is this possible if the MD says you are pregnant, but the HPT says BFN?
thank you all for the answers! All are great and very informative
I know so many women that were even almost into their 2nd trimester and HPT’s never showed positive.
Pregnancy tests are such a waste of money!

Yes, they can be wrong. My friend took 10 home pregnancy tests and they all came back negative and a blood test came back negative and she just found out a few days ago that she is 10 weeks pregnant!
it’s possible, my mom didnt find out she was pregnant with me until she was 4 months. The HPT’s were all negative and the blood tests were positive. Once the blood test was negative and it didnt start showing positive until 4 months. Some women don’t produce enough of the hcg hormone in their urine but they do in their blood. You’re pregnant so dont worry.
home pregnancy tests detect HGH which is only present in the beginning of pregnancy. Most HPT are geared toward the week before or week or two after pregnancy. After two or three months only a blood test will confirm a positive pregnancy.
it is unlikely but possible. there may not be enough hormones to show up on a HPT but a medical blood test can show what is really going on. even if you aren’t sure treat things as positive until a negative is medically confirmed. that possible baby needs all the healthy living mom can manage.
I’ve never herd of something like that but I wouldn’t waste anymore money cause the doctor knows what he’s talking about
