Silly question but here goes…on average when do women go to the doctor when she finds out that she’s preggo?
I have a son who is 18 months old but with that pregnancy I went to the doctor right at the beginning of the pregnancy when the home pregnancy test came back positive because, I was experiencing a lot of stomach pain. They ended up doing a ultrasound to make sure he was growing in the right place because all the pain I was feeling so I can’t use that time frame as an example. So I was wondering if a woman isn’t feeling any pain or anything at the beginning what the initial timeline is for doctor appointments. I will be contacting my OBGYN but I just wanted to have an idea ahead of time before contacting the doctor’s office. Thanks for your answers.

Typically most doctors will want to see you between 8-12 weeks if there aren’t any complications or a history of miscarriage.

I went to the doctor immediately so that I can get on my prenatal vitamins!!

  2. Squeakeh says:

I went 2 days after testing positive on my hpt.

I’ve heard most women say 8 weeks but my doctor had me come in the day after getting a positive test, to verify (4 weeks at the time). Then, they scheduled me for a visit at 8 weeks. I ended up going 2 times in between then because of spotting but originally it was supposed to be 8 weeks.

same time, WHY would you think it’s any different?

Usually I think its right when they find out they are pregnant they make a doctors appt. I went a few days after my test came back positive. Most women want to not only make sure every things is going good but they want prenatals and possibly an ultra sound pic of the little wormy lol.

Yeah, normally they won’t see you before eight weeks. But I’d go on and get an appointment scheduled. Since some offices tend to stay busy(like mine does lol). You want to make sure you get a spot when you need/want it.

Go right away its the safest thing for the baby

I went at 6 weeks to confirm the pregnancy and to talk to a nurse about how appointments were going to go and whatnot, but didn’t see the OB until 10 weeks. Even with my second pregnancy, which was high-risk, she didn’t want to see me until 10 weeks.

As far as prenatals – you don’t need to wait to get a prescription; they sell them over the counter, and many women take them while trying to conceive because of the folic acid.
