I’m 13 weeks pregnant and have had a sour taste in my mouth for sometime now…is this a pregnancy thing?
Even if I wash my mouth like 2 or 3 times per day i still have that sour taste…Is this normal?

It may be your prenatals or just a pregnancy thing. Blood flow to the gums and nose increase with pregnancy and sometimes that can cause a sensitivity to tastes/smells and more bacteria growth.

How can I incorporate olive oil into my current diet (to help with constipation during pregnancy)?
I’ve heard olive oil will can help with constipation, but I don’t know how I would incorporate it in my current diet. I’m 8 months pregnant and here is what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: Fiber One cereal mixed w/ some All Bran Yogurt Bites cereal w/ 1 cup milk and 1 glass of orange juice with 2 heaping teaspoons of Benefiber mixed in (this is more or less what I eat EVERY morning except sometimes I’ll have Kellogg’s Shredded Wheat cereal instead of the All Bran)
LUNCH: Homemade chicken soup which consisted of very little shredded chicken, white rice (I usually use brown whole grain rice, but it wasn’t on hand yesterday), lots of baby carrots, some potatoes and some shredded cabbage. I had a big glass of water w/ 2 heaping teaspoons of Benefiber.
DINNER: 2 homemade Potato Pancakes topped w/ homemade salsa and a side salad of shredded leaf lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes (no dressing on top). Big glass of water w/ 2 more heaping teaspoons of Benefiber & I drink 112 oz water daily.
I ran outta room but I also wanted to add that I also do some light walking on the treadmill 20-30 minutes for 3-4 times a week. I NEVER or hardly ever eat any refined foods like white rice, white bread, white flour etc. (I’ve switched to whole grain everything to try and get more fiber into my diet) and I NEVER or hardly eat frozen dinners and processed foods anymore. I’d say about 98% of my diet consists of homemade meals. O yeah, and I very rarely eat red meat, but I do eat it occassionally w/ meals like tacos or hamburgers etc. Reason I want to try the Olive Oil is because I think I’m getting too much roughage with all the fiber and I’m not getting enuf fat in my diet to help move things along. In other words I think I don’t have enuf lubrication inside, but like I mentioned in my question, I don’t know how to incorporate the olive oil into my current diet. Should I just take a few spoonfuls a day or how should I use it? Thanks.

Use the oil to cook with.
Eat pasta with olive oil on it.
Use it as a salad dressing.

If you are taking iron pills, switch to CHELATED iron which is better absorbed by your body and less likely to cause constipation.

I’m 5’4″ and 150 pounds. Pre-pregnancy (almost 3 years ago) I was 130. I do yoga, pure barre, aerobics, and weight lifting (I work out at home, so its all self weight and light weights.) I am trying to ‘tone’ my body. I have a balanced diet, I eat what I want sometimes, but I know I burn the calories when I work out. I see that I’m losing weight, but not inches. I don’t feel any less flabby. I can’t get my abs or my arms to burn like the rest of my body! What am I doing wrong? I want to look nice for this summer, so I have a few months to work on it.
So tone my body (from home) and lose 20 pounds in almost 3 months.

your not doing anything wrong. your not seein inches because we store a lot of fan around our organs not just under the skin. the fat around the organs is usually the fist to go before the fat under the skin. this is why you not seeing inches,,, yet. keep at it and it will happen.
here’s a training program i’ve put together to help loose body fat fast. give it a go.

eat healthy, cut out most processed foods (if it comes in a packet don’t eat it unless it is health) excess salt, sugar. Snack on fruit (fresh and dried), veggies (carrot celery etc.) nuts (unsalted and raw are the Healthiest) and cheese, salad, yogurt during the day. Cut down on red meat (about 1-2 times a week) eat more white meat (fish, pork,chicken), Fresh veggies not that packaged frozen stuff it has no nutrients (the more variety of color the better). Instead of having 3 big meals a day (DONT SKIP BREAKFAST) try to have 4-5 smaller healthy meals a day (helps your metabolism) and try to avoid having a big dinner and try not to eat after 7pm (this prevents all your food from just sitting in your stomach when you sleep (you body doesn’t digest food when you sleep or so im told)). Eat more foods that are high in protein, fiber and a low glycemic index (google it if your not sure) as they will help you feel fuller for longer (thus cuts out any unnecessary snacking). Drink water not soft drink (soda) as it is has about 35gms of sugar per can (sometimes more), don’t be food by ‘diet’ soda it may not have any sugar but the artificial sweetener they put in it is just as bad for your body. If you drink coffee try to replace it with tea (don’t put sugar in your tea as your trying to cut out excess sugar, instead squeeze some fresh lemon into it (i woldnt put lemon in it if your putting milk in it may taste funny). Doing so will help your body absorbing 4 time more antioxidants). Cut out takeaway and fast food, excess alcohol. Fat in foods is not the enemy as most people think it is, altho excess fat is. excess carbohydrates are the enemy, your body coverts carbohydrates to energy (thus if you eat excess carbohydrates and dont use this energy in your body will store it as fat tissue). Im not saying dont eat that ice cream or Chocy biscuit, just and a small bowl or 2 bikkys instead of 5. The key to success is moderation.

Try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. If you walk do so at a fast pace this increase your heart rate (thus burning more fat), if you can run or jog do so but dont run everyday, your body needs time to recover. Some people prefer to cycle because its a lot easier on your knees, feet and ankles (whilst running it can put up to 3 times your body weight of pressure on your knees, feet and ankles (if you weigh 60kgs that would be 180kgs of pressure) that why people choose to cycle).
If your serious about loosing weight i would suggest buying a heart rate Monitor (-0 for a basic one), you want your heart rate to sit at 120-135 Beats Per Minute whilst exercising. It will also tell you how many calories you have burned in that session. A more effective and faster way to loose weight is to do H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training) this is where you get your heart rate up to about 130BPM and keep it at that for about 4 Min’s then sprint for 50-70 meters (this will raise your heart rate up to about 160 -180BPM maybe more) then slow down and let your heart rate BPM fall back to 135 hold it there for a few min’s then sprint again and so on (if you dont want to get a heart rate monitor wear a watch and jog for 4 Min’s run for 30sec run for 4 Min’s jog for 30 min and so on). The key to weight loss is you want to burn more energy than you take in (eat).
Remember these things take time so be PATIENT and KEEP MOTIVATED.

I know its a lot to take in at first, but following this will cut out excess calories and you will live healthier, have more energy and loose weight, It will be hard at first because your body will go into shock (you will feel like crap for a few days) as all the toxins leave your body. resist the sugar cravings they usually come mid afternoon or night, but if you cant have a pack of lollies in the cupboard and just eat one or two. this will get rid of the cravings without having to many calories.

I am about 6 1/2 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. with my other two I never had any kind of spotting so when I noticed it this time I marched right down to the ER. they couldn’t tell me too much they said they saw no blood. they did a pelvic exam and an internal ultrasound. I got to see the heartbeat which really put me at ease. but I was just wondering how common is spotting during the early weeks of pregnancy? also I noticed a little more tonight is this something that will happen often? I don’t have another appointment until monday but my doctor gave me the number to a nurseline if I have concerns

they say every pregnancy is different, so maybe this is the one!!! lol honestly sometimes women have spotting throughout their whole pregnancy, is the ER did an ultrasound and pelvic exam and you aw a heartbeat id say all is fine for now, but if theres cramping or heavy bleeding then id go back, if not just use the number they gave you!!!

According to my last menstrual period I would be 6 weeks pregnant today. I had a transvaginal ultrasound this afternoon that showed a gestational sac and a yolk sac that dated 5 weeks. No baby yet. I have had cramping off and on for a couple of days with occasional spotting when wiping. Mostly light pink and once a little red. None on a pad or panty liner between wiping.

I also had 2 HCG checks last week. My first was 166 and the second was 1886 which showed the levels more than doubling as they should in early pregnancy.

My OB told me today that 1 of two things can happen. He says that either I am going to start to cramp and bleed heavily and miscarry or by Monday on a repeat ultrasound their will be a baby and heartbeat. If no baby is seen in one week he said he’d give me the option of having a D&C before the natural miscarriage.

I have irregular periods and used an opk which showed me ovulating a week late, which would put me at 5 weeks, but he seemed really pessimistic as though I would miscarry soon.

Anyone have the dates be off my a week or so early on?

(By the way, I had one miscarriage at 8 1/2 weeks with baby #1, and then had a successful pregnancy with heavy bleeding and severe cramping around 5 1/2 weeks. Also, my I am taking 400 mg of prometrium to raise my progesterone levels up. They started at 5 and now are above 9, probably more like 12 now.)

It could easily be off by as much as TWO weeks…If they do another monday,and don’t see anything, i wouldn’t jump on the D&C bandwagon just yet. I’d demand another in a week or so,and then if they don’t find anything,it’s time to discuss things with your doctor.
